Dangote Refinery: IPMAN tells Nigerians when to expect new fuel pump price

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has said Nigerians will get to know the new fuel pump price latest by Wednesday.

This is even as the association disclosed that negotiation between the association and Dangote Refinery is still ongoing about the pricing strategy.

IPMAN said it had resolved every other issue during its Monday meeting with Dangote Refinery and that Nigerians will feel the impact within the coming days.

This was made known on Tuesday by Yakubu Suleiman, National Assistant Secretary of IPMAN, while fielding questions on Arise Television’s Morning Show programme.

The statement comes after the petroleum marketers said they had finally secured an agreement with Dangote Refinery to lift products directly.

Suleiman said the whole discussion with Africa’s biggest refinery was centered on how Nigerians will get a cheaper petrol price, adding that it bothers IPMAN that Nigerians are buying at the higher rate.

He said: “We have had a good discussion about what the President of IPMAN stated about lifting directly from Dangote Refinery. We are fully ready to start lifting from Dangote.

“Dangote sat with the IPMAN President, and they had a very fruitful discussion. At the end of the day, we have now built a good synergy between the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria and Dangote Refinery.

“We are happy that with that meeting with Dangote Refinery, we have resolved all the nitty gritty. By the grace of God, very soon, within the next few days, Nigerians will feel the impact.

“The whole thing is centered around ‘how do we have a cheaper petroleum price.’ Like I said earlier in my former interview, it bothers us that Nigerians are buying at the higher rate.

“The discussion with Dangote is still ongoing. I believe between today and tomorrow we will finish on the issue of pricing.

“I want you to exercise patience. You must have heard what our IPMAN National President stated yesterday. So, between today and tomorrow, once the issue of pricing is finalized, Mr. President will come out to the public and inform the generality of Nigerians, ‘this is the price IPMAN has agreed with Dangote, and this is the price that we are going to sell in our retail outlets.’ Now, I want to assure you it’s going to be cheaper.”
