C’River Polytechnic Staff Protest Six Months’ Unpaid Salaries
Staff of the former Institute of Technology and Management (ITM), Ugep, now under the Federal Polytechnic, Ugep (FPU), protested in Calabar over six months of unpaid salaries since January 2025.
Despite a state promise to integrate them into the federal system, many workers claim they’ve been left without pay or job security following the transition.
Carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, the workers demanded immediate government intervention. A few union leaders were granted access into the Governor’s Office to await a possible meeting with Governor Bassey Otu.
