News Politics Court halts Fubara’s impeachment, orders Assembly, CJ to maintain status quo admin November 1, 2023 0 A Rivers State High Court sitting in Isiokpo Division, Ikwerre Local Government Area, has issued an interim order restraining the Rivers State House of Assembly and the Speaker, Martins Amaewhule, from carrying out any action with respect to the impeachment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Also restrained are the Deputy Speaker, the Clerk of the House and the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor-Amadi. Presiding Judge, Justice Ben Whyte, issued the order following a suit filed by the governor. The judge adjourned the suit to 14 November, 2023, for hearing of the motion on notice.
