Court Grants Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan ₦50 Million Bail in Defamation Case

The Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, has granted bail to the suspended Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, in the sum of ₦50 million.
The decision was delivered on Thursday, a day after the Senator appeared in court for her arraignment on criminal defamation charges filed by the Federal Government.
As part of the bail conditions, the court ordered that Akpoti-Uduaghan must provide one surety who is:
A person of reasonable integrity,
Resident within the Federal Capital Territory, and
The owner of a landed property located within the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
The court’s ruling follows her alleged statements made during a live television appearance, accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello of conspiring to orchestrate an assassination attempt against her.
Further proceedings in the case are expected to continue as legal arguments unfold.
