Jimin Geoffrey, former Senior Special Assistant on Media to ex-Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, has expressed deep concern over the relentless attacks on Benue communities by armed Fulani herdsmen.

Speaking with DAILY POST, Geoffrey lamented that despite President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to the state following the deadly violence in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area, the wave of attacks has shown no sign of abating.

Geoffrey, who hails from Guma, detailed a string of tragic incidents:

On Saturday, June 21, 2025, four people were killed across Makurdi and Guma LGAs, including Tse Ati, Uda Yagba, and Tse-Kator.

On Sunday, June 19, 2025, four Mobile Police officers were brutally murdered by assailants at Udei in Guma.

On July 2, 2025, suspected militia herdsmen attacked Kwaghgba village, killing three residents.

A day later, on July 3, 2025, Ukohol village in Guma came under attack, with three villagers losing their lives.

The violence continued on Friday, July 4, 2025, at Tse-Anundu, Udei, where Mr. Nomsoor Anundu was killed. Geoffrey added that two other victims sustained gunshot wounds and are receiving medical treatment.

President Tinubu, during his visit on June 18, 2025, had instructed the Chief of Defense Staff and the Inspector General of Police to “get those criminals out.” He also directed the Directors General of the Nigerian Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the State Security Service (SSS) to overhaul intelligence networks to prevent further attacks.
