American R&B singer Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent in connection with an alleged nightclub altercation that occurred in London in 2023.

The 36-year-old artist appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Friday, dressed in a dark suit and tie with glasses. Standing in the dock, Brown calmly responded, “Not guilty, ma’am,” as the charge was formally read to him.

The court confirmed that Brown had been released on £5 million ($6.7 million) bail, with the condition that he must return for all court proceedings or risk forfeiting the entire amount. He had previously been detained in May for nearly a week following his arrest in Manchester, before being granted bail.

Following the hearing, the judge scheduled a five to seven-day trial, set to begin on October 26, 2026.
