CDS Musa: Fence Nigeria-Niger Border to Stop Terrorists

Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has identified the border with Niger Republic as the most porous and dangerous, emphasizing the need to fence it off to effectively combat terrorism.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News, General Musa explained that groups like ISWAP and other terrorists use the Niger border to infiltrate Nigeria, which he described as their primary target in the region.
He highlighted how terrorists attack from neighboring Sahel countries and noted Nigeria’s vulnerability due to proximity to countries like Benin Republic, where the distance to Nigeria is just 50 kilometers in some areas.
General Musa also pointed out ideological differences between Nigeria and surrounding Francophone nations, stressing that border security through fencing is crucial to national safety.
