American conservative commentator Candace Owens has responded defiantly to a defamation lawsuit filed by French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, over her repeated public claims that the French First Lady was born male.

In a video shared on her YouTube channel, Owens stood by her remarks, saying she was prepared to defend them in court—even if the case reached the discovery stage of litigation.

“You were born a man and you will die a man,” Owens said, addressing Brigitte Macron. “So give us a sample. I’ll send my doctors to take your blood. We’ll get to the bottom of it.”

The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Delaware Superior Court, accuses Owens of orchestrating a global campaign of humiliation and harassment, based on a conspiracy theory that Brigitte Macron, 72, was originally named Jean-Michel Trogneux. The complaint describes Owens’ actions as “invasive, dehumanising, and deeply unjust”, saying the couple frequently faces public confrontations over the claims.

The 22-count civil suit seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages, marking a rare move by a sitting world leader and their spouse to bring a defamation case in a U.S. court.
