The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has strongly condemned what it described as “unacceptable conduct” during the AFCON 2025 final between Morocco and Senegal, vowing to launch a full investigation into the incidents that marred the high-profile match.

In a statement released after the final, CAF said it was deeply concerned by reports of disorderly behavior involving players, officials, and supporters, which it noted fell short of the standards expected at Africa’s biggest football event.

According to CAF, the incidents occurred before, during, and after the final whistle, prompting urgent reviews by its disciplinary and security departments. While specific details were not immediately disclosed, the football body confirmed that video footage, match officials’ reports, and security assessments would form part of the investigation.

“CAF will not tolerate any actions that undermine the integrity, safety, and spirit of African football,” the statement said, adding that appropriate sanctions would be applied once the probe is concluded.

The AFCON 2025 final, which saw Senegal edge Morocco to lift the trophy, had been highly anticipated, but the post-match controversies have since overshadowed the sporting achievement.

CAF reiterated its commitment to fair play, discipline, and respect, stressing that all individuals or teams found culpable would be dealt with in line with its regulations.
