Buni Distributes Food Items to Yobe Tricycle Riders, Others
Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has flagged off a New Year food distribution programme aimed at supporting vulnerable residents across the state, including tricycle (keke) riders and other low-income earners.
The intervention, which targets over 2,000 beneficiaries, is designed to ease the burden of rising food prices on households and workers in the informal sector. Officials said the exercise forms part of the state government’s broader social welfare and poverty-alleviation initiatives.
Speaking during the distribution, government representatives said the programme reflects Governor Buni’s commitment to cushioning economic hardship and ensuring that vulnerable groups receive timely support, especially at the beginning of the year. Beneficiaries were drawn from various communities to ensure fair and inclusive coverage.
The Yobe State Government reaffirmed its resolve to continue rolling out targeted interventions in food security, livelihoods support and social protection, noting that similar programmes would be sustained to improve the welfare of residents across the state.
