BREAKING: Real Madrid beat Dortmund to win 15th Champions League trophy

Real Madrid defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 on Saturday at the Wembley Stadium, England, to win the Champions League trophy for the 15th time.

 

After a goalless first half, Madrid opened the scoring in the 77th minute. The resulting corner was whipped in by Toni Kroos and Daniel Carvajal was left unmarked to plant a precise header into the top of the net to make to score 1-0.

 

Vinicius Junior sealed victory for Madrid in the 83rd minute with a superb strike.

 

Jude Bellingham superbly played a vital role in the build-up. He squared the ball to Vinicius Junior, who beat Gregor Kobel with a brilliant shot into the right side of the net to make it 2-0.

 

Niclas Fullkrug scored for Dortmund two minutes to the end of the game but the goal was ruled offside.

Earlier in the first half, Karim Adeyemi broke into the box and went over after a challenge from an opposition player, but the ref signals no penalty.

 

In the 23rd minute, Niclas Fullkrug picked up the ball inside the box and produced a snap shot which smashed against the right post.

 

Five minutes later, a fine pass found Karim Adeyemi in space inside the box, he looked up and drilled a low shot towards the middle of the goal, but the Thibaut Courtois reacted superbly to deny him.

 

In the 41st minute, Marcel Sabitzer got into a good scoring position. He created some space for himself and tried his luck from distance. His decent effort towards the bottom left corner was, however, superbly saved by Thibaut Courtois.

Daniel Carvajal, in the 50th minute timed his run into the box beautifully and planted a good looking header at goal from the corner, but the ball flashed just over the bar.

 

In the 63rd minute, Niclas Fullkrug rose above the defenders and placed a towering header towards the right post, but Thibaut Courtois was prepared and dove to thwart him.
