Bayelsa Gov Diri honoured by UNILAG with book, lecture

The University of Lagos has completed a book project highlighting the leadership qualities and governance style of Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri.

This was disclosed on Thursday by the Managing Director of UNILAG Consult, Prof. John Oyefara, during a courtesy visit to Government House, Yenagoa. According to him, the institution has also proposed a public lecture and the endowment of a Professorial Chair in the Department of Political Science in Diri’s honour.

UNILAG Consult, established in 1983 and incorporated in 2013, serves as the consultancy arm of the institution, offering research-based technical services across sectors by leveraging academic expertise and facilities.

In a statement issued on Friday by Diri’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, Prof. Oyefara explained that the university has a tradition of evaluating Nigerian leaders using global standards. He added that the book, titled “Leadership Chronicles of Governor Douye Diri,” documents the governor’s exemplary achievements in Bayelsa.

“At the University of Lagos, we have a tradition of assessing leaders in Nigeria using templates and standards that are globally accepted. We identified Your Excellency as a leading star in Nigeria based on leadership and governance. We decided to put together all your achievements,” Oyefara said.
