Awujale Stool: KWAM1 Writes Ogun Governor, Alleges Exclusion From Selection Process
Renowned Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM1, has written a formal petition to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, alleging that he was unjustly excluded from the ongoing selection process for the Awujale of Ijebuland.
In the letter, KWAM1 stated that he is a bona fide member of the Fusengbuwa ruling house, one of the recognised ruling houses traditionally eligible to present candidates for the Awujale stool. He claimed that despite this status, the Fusengbuwa ruling house was sidelined in the constitution of kingmakers and deliberations leading to the selection process.
The Fuji icon expressed concern that the alleged exclusion undermines long-standing customs and the rotational tradition governing the revered Awujale stool, which is based in Ijebu Ode. He called on the Ogun State Government to intervene urgently to ensure fairness, inclusiveness, and strict adherence to tradition.
KWAM1 further urged the governor to direct relevant traditional institutions and authorities to review the process, warning that failure to do so could deepen divisions and provoke avoidable tension within Ijebuland.
As of the time of filing this report, the Ogun State Government had not issued an official response to the petition.
