Atiku vows to fight election rigging, bad governance ahead of 2027 polls

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has declared his resolve to stand firmly against election rigging and poor governance, as momentum builds within the opposition coalition to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Atiku made this commitment on Friday while receiving a delegation of stakeholders from Gombe State, led by former Minister and Senator Idris Abdullahi. The visit, held at Atiku’s residence, was to affirm the group’s loyalty to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which the coalition recently adopted as its political platform for the upcoming elections.
Sharing details of the meeting on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, Atiku criticised what he described as worsening governance in Nigeria. He stressed that the nation’s wealth should translate into better living conditions for citizens.
> “Yesterday, I vowed to stand against the stealing of elections and oppose bad governance. Enough is enough. Nigerians cannot continue to suffer amidst an abundance of resources owing to bad governance,” Atiku wrote.
