Asake bigger than Olamide – Big Vic
Popular media personality Big Vic has claimed that singer Asake is now a bigger artist than ace rapper and CEO of YBNL Nation, Olamide.
Speaking on a recent episode of the ‘Ctdamongblacks’ podcast, he said:
“Asake is bigger than Olamide right now. I’m not talking about lifetime achievement; I’m talking about the moment. At this point, he [Asake] is bigger in terms of collaboration, connection, sold-out shows.”
“Olamide could have decided not to invest so much in him but he knew that if Asake becomes big, he would benefit from it.”
He said artists of Southeast extraction are not helping their kinsmen to be successful in the music industry like their Southwest counterparts because they are afraid of someone else overtaking them.
He advised Igbo artists to emulate their Yoruba counterparts by investing more in up-and-coming talents from their region.
News Telly recalls that Asake previously revealed that he begged Olamide for about two years before he accepted to sign him to his record label.
Asake signed to YBNL Nation in February 2022. That same month, he released his debut extended play, ‘Ololade,’ which featured his breakthrough song “Omo Ope” featuring Olamide and the single “Sungba.”
