Arteta reportedly ended Arsenal’s interest in Osimhen ‘after public spat with Finidi’
Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, reportedly ended his interest in signing Victor Osimhen from Napoli, after his public spat with former Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George.
According to him, Arteta was concerned about not only Osimhen’s attitude but his high wage demands.
The Gunners boss eventually decided against signing the Nigerian striker, after he took to Instagram to query Finidi, who was the national team coach at the time.
Osimhen launched an explosive tirade at Finidi on social media, following fake news that the coach had said he would not beg anyone to play for Nigeria.
His action at the time, drew criticisms from several quarters, with some calling for him to be banned from the Eagles team.
Osimhen eventually completed a season-long loan move to Galatasaray this week, while Arsenal failed to sign a striker in the summer.
But TeamNewsAndTix has also claimed Arteta was eyeing a move for Newcastle United’s frontman, Alexander Isak.
He insisted that Arsenal will still try to make a move for Isak next summer as he is “very, very high on Arteta’s list”.
