The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to providing sustained security for residents of a community in Sokoto State following a recent bandit attack that left locals shaken.
Army authorities said additional troops have been deployed to the affected area, while patrols and surveillance operations have been intensified to prevent further attacks. According to the military, the operation is part of ongoing efforts to flush out criminal elements operating within the North-West region and restore lasting peace.
Speaking on the development, a senior army officer said the military would not relent until normalcy is fully restored and residents can go about their daily activities without fear. He stressed that the safety of civilians remains a top priority for the Nigerian Army.
The officer also called on community members to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist ongoing operations against bandits and other criminal groups.
Residents, who had earlier expressed concerns over rising insecurity, welcomed the renewed military presence, saying it has boosted confidence and reduced tension within the community.
The Nigerian Army reiterated that its operations across Sokoto and neighbouring states will continue in collaboration with other security agencies and local stakeholders to ensure the protection of lives and property.
