Aregbesola Accuses APC of Intolerance, Says Party Has Failed Nigerians

The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of stifling opposition voices and misusing state power to intimidate critics.
Speaking on Saturday at the unveiling of the ADC Secretariat in Ilorin, Kwara State, Aregbesola said the APC had failed Nigerians through greed, corruption, and poor governance, leading to widespread hardship and insecurity across the country.
“Under the current administration, hunger has taken over the land. Governance has been reduced to personal enrichment and political intimidation. Nigerians are suffering because of leadership failure at all levels under the APC,” he said.
He described the ruling party as intolerant of dissent, alleging that it had become increasingly oppressive towards opposition figures.
“If the APC is truly confident of its popularity, it wouldn’t be hounding and haunting opposition members everywhere,” Aregbesola added.
The former minister further described the ADC as a “party of conscience and service,” asserting that it represents the only credible alternative for Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The hatred Nigerians have for the APC is clear. The party that will harvest that unpopularity is the ADC,” he declared.
Also speaking at the event, former Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed said the unveiling of the ADC Secretariat marked the beginning of a new political direction for the state.
“This is the dawn of a new chapter in Kwara’s political history. The ADC is determined to build a party that truly reflects the aspirations of our people,” Ahmed said.
In his remarks, the ADC National Publicity Secretary and former Minister of Youth and Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, dismissed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a “dead party awaiting burial,” insisting that only the ADC now stands as a credible opposition to the APC.
