APC Not Sponsoring Me to Attack Olawepo-Hashim – Estranged Wife

Dr. Funmi Olawepo-Hashim, the estranged wife of former presidential candidate Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has dismissed claims that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is sponsoring her to smear her ex-husband.
She accused Gbenga of using political diversion to avoid addressing allegations of child neglect and failure to support their twin children living in the UK. According to her, Gbenga has not communicated with the children for nine years and ignored repeated requests to pay their school fees and upkeep.
Funmi referenced a Federal High Court judgment ordering Olawepo-Hashim and one of his firms to pay ₦300 million for corporate governance breaches. She said recent payments he made — totalling around $20,000 in mid-2025 — only came after her public outcry.
Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim had earlier alleged that APC elements were using his estranged wife to damage his political reputation ahead of the 2027 elections, calling her a “professional blackmailer.”
Funmi, however, described the claims as false, baseless, and malicious, insisting that her ex-husband alone must take responsibility for his “long-standing parental and financial neglect.” She also denied ever blocking his access to the children, noting that a UK court order allows him physical and virtual access — which he has failed to exercise.
