Anambra approves ₦43.7bn for roads, schools, others

The Anambra State Government has awarded contracts worth about ₦43.7 billion for road, school, power, and other key infrastructural projects across the state.
The Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the decisions were taken during the 19th State Executive Council meeting held at the “Light House,” Awka, on Monday.
Mefor explained that despite the election season, Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration would not initiate projects for political purposes but only those with clear economic and social significance. He also restated the government’s commitment not to owe contractors.
Key projects approved include:
Dualisation of the Ekwulobia–Ufuma Road with a bridge — ₦37.95bn (Lebtech Construction Ltd).
Adili/Park Road with a spur to Building Materials Market, Nnewi — ₦1.40bn (Ferrotex Construction Co.).
School Road at Iyiowa Odekpe with interlocking pavement — ₦2.23bn (Roadways Nig Ltd).
External works of the VIP Lounge (Lot 1) at Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri — ₦172m (Gill Associates Ltd).
Supply and installation of furniture for the VIP Lounge (Lot 2) at the same airport — ₦157.73m (Gold Coast Sheltera Ltd).
Rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of the Civil Service Commission premises, Awka — ₦147m.
Road markings, pedestrian crossings, and yellow box traps at traffic light junctions across the state — ₦124.9m (Navigator Sign Ltd).
