All Delta PDP Reps Defect To APC
In a major political development, all members of the House of Representatives from Delta State elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The announcement was made during Tuesday’s plenary session by the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas.
This mass defection follows the recent switch of allegiance by former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the incumbent Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who both declared their move to the APC at a stakeholders’ meeting held in Asaba.
The wave of defections may not end there. Rep. Ikenga Ugochinyere, representing Ideato Federal Constituency of Imo State, hinted that two more PDP governors and about 40 lawmakers are expected to join the ruling party soon.
Despite the ongoing defections, former Senate President Bukola Saraki has expressed confidence that the PDP will bounce back, stating that those leaving are free to go.
