Africa’s richest businessman, Aliko Dangote, has secured over 1,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks from BAIC FOTON to strengthen the logistics capacity of Dangote Cement across Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa.

The acquisition marks a significant expansion of Dangote Cement’s transportation fleet and aligns with the company’s broader strategy to improve operational efficiency, reduce distribution costs and enhance supply chain reliability.

The newly procured CNG-powered trucks are expected to support the movement of cement and other industrial materials from production plants to key markets nationwide. Industry observers note that the shift toward CNG vehicles reflects a growing trend among major corporations to adopt cleaner and more cost-effective energy alternatives, especially amid fluctuating diesel prices.

By integrating CNG technology into its logistics network, Dangote Cement aims to lower fuel expenses while reducing carbon emissions, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and environmentally responsible operations.

The move is also seen as a boost to Nigeria’s industrial sector, with the expanded fleet expected to improve delivery timelines, increase distribution reach and strengthen the company’s footprint across regional markets.

Analysts say the investment underscores Dangote Group’s continued focus on large-scale infrastructure and logistics development as it consolidates its position as a dominant force in Africa’s manufacturing and industrial landscape.
