ADC Orders Members to Quit APC, PDP, Join New Coalition

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has directed members of the opposition coalition to resign from their current political parties and fully align with the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Bolaji Abdullahi, disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja after a caucus meeting attended by senior leaders and influential politicians.
Since the coalition was unveiled on July 2 as a common platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu, only a few opposition leaders have formally switched to the ADC. Many, however, continue to retain membership of their former parties.
For instance, ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar has exited the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but has yet to officially register with the ADC. Similarly, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, still maintains ties with his party despite his association with the coalition.
Abdullahi clarified that all issues surrounding the African Democratic Association (ADA) had been laid to rest, adding that the coalition is united in its resolve.
“Though the final order has been given for members to resign from other political parties, the caucus was silent on a timeline. The coalition has rested everything concerning ADA. All presidential aspirants have agreed to support whoever wins the primary election,” he stated.
