Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has described the state as being “near El Dorado,” citing significant economic growth and development strides that, according to him, place Ogun among the fastest-growing states in Nigeria alongside Lagos.

The governor made the remark while highlighting achievements of his administration, pointing to improvements in infrastructure, industrial expansion and increased investment inflows as key indicators of progress.

Abiodun noted that Ogun’s proximity to Lagos and its strategic location have positioned it as a major hub for manufacturing and commerce, attracting both local and international investors. He added that ongoing projects in road construction, housing and industrial parks are further boosting the state’s economic potential.

According to him, the government’s policies have created a conducive business environment, leading to job creation and enhanced revenue generation. He emphasised that sustained efforts are being made to ensure inclusive growth and improved living standards for residents.

The governor also reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening sectors such as education, healthcare and agriculture to support long-term development.

Observers say the comparison with Lagos reflects growing competition among states to attract investment and showcase development achievements, particularly as political activities gradually build toward future elections.
