Abia Inaugurates New Health Centre as Indigene Donates 31 Buildings to Community
The Abia State Government has inaugurated the Ndi Okereke Anam Primary Healthcare Centre, a modern medical facility aimed at strengthening grassroots healthcare delivery and improving access to quality medical services for residents of the host community.
The newly inaugurated healthcare centre was donated by an indigene of the area, whose philanthropic gesture also included the donation of 31 additional buildings to support community development initiatives across the locality.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, state government officials described the project as a significant boost to Abia’s primary healthcare system, noting that it aligns with the government’s commitment to improving health outcomes, especially at the community level. They said the facility would reduce pressure on secondary hospitals and ensure that residents receive timely and affordable medical attention close to their homes.
According to the government, the Ndi Okereke Anam Primary Healthcare Centre is equipped with modern medical amenities designed to cater to maternal and child healthcare, emergency response, routine medical consultations, and preventive healthcare services.
Officials praised the donor for demonstrating uncommon patriotism and community spirit, urging other well-meaning Abians at home and in the diaspora to emulate the gesture by partnering with the government in advancing development projects across the state.
Community leaders and residents who attended the event expressed gratitude for the intervention, describing it as life-changing. They noted that access to quality healthcare has been a longstanding challenge in the area and said the new facility would significantly improve the wellbeing of the people.
The Abia State Government reaffirmed its resolve to continue investing in healthcare infrastructure, manpower development, and public-private partnerships to ensure efficient and sustainable healthcare delivery across all parts of the state.
