Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved the enrolment of all retired civil servants in the state into the Orange Health Insurance Scheme, with the government footing the entire bill.
The move is expected to provide thousands of pensioners with free access to healthcare services, easing the financial burden of medical expenses on retirees.
Governor Aiyedatiwa said the initiative reflects his administration’s commitment to the welfare of senior citizens who dedicated years of service to the state.
Under the scheme, eligible pensioners will have access to a range of healthcare services at accredited medical facilities without having to bear the cost of registration or premiums.
Stakeholders have described the development as a major boost for healthcare access and social protection, especially for elderly citizens who often face challenges in meeting rising medical costs.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to improve healthcare delivery and ensure that vulnerable groups receive the support they deserve.
