A group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State has voiced strong opposition to any potential move by Governor Bala Mohammed to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The group warned that such a development could trigger internal instability within the APC, citing concerns over party cohesion, existing structures and the interests of loyal members.
In a statement, the stakeholders urged the party leadership to prioritise unity and protect the integrity of the APC in the state, rather than accommodate moves that could create divisions.
They also emphasised the need for fairness and inclusiveness in handling political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
Observers say the reaction reflects growing political tension and strategic positioning, as realignments and defections continue to shape Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
