Only Tinubu Can Sack Me’ — Wike Fires Back at Critics Amid Rivers Crisis
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that no individual or group has the authority to remove him from office except President Bola Tinubu.
Wike made the bold assertion amid rising political tension linked to the ongoing crisis in Rivers State, where impeachment moves and deepening divisions within the state’s political structure have continued to dominate national discourse.
Speaking confidently, the former Rivers State governor dismissed calls for his removal as “noise from political busybodies,” stressing that his appointment and continued stay in office rest solely with President Tinubu.
“I am not disturbed. Nobody can sack me except the President who appointed me. Those shouting are wasting their time,” Wike said.
The FCT minister also accused his critics of attempting to drag him into the Rivers political crisis, insisting that he remains focused on delivering results in Abuja and supporting the federal government’s agenda.
Wike’s comments come as tensions escalate between camps loyal to him and those aligned with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, with impeachment threats and counter-accusations heightening uncertainty in the oil-rich state.
Political analysts say Wike’s remarks underline his continued influence within the ruling power structure and signal a readiness to confront opponents head-on, even as the Rivers crisis deepens.
