Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, on Tuesday presented a โ‚ฆ884.87 billion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly, outlining plans to consolidate ongoing development programmes across the state.

Presenting the Appropriation Bill in Abakaliki, Governor Nwifuru explained that the proposal prioritises infrastructure, education, health and human capital development, which he described as the pillars of his administrationโ€™s long-term strategy. He noted that the budget is designed to strengthen economic growth and improve essential services for residents.

The governor said the bill, tagged the โ€œBudget of Shared Prosperity and Continuity,โ€ reflects the governmentโ€™s commitment to completing key projects already underway, particularly in road construction, housing and public utilities. He added that the administration would also scale up interventions in agriculture to enhance food production and support local farmers.

Speaker of the House, Ogbonnaya Nwifuru, received the proposal and assured that lawmakers would give it accelerated consideration in line with legislative procedures. He commended the executive for maintaining what he called a consistent and realistic budgeting framework.

Governor Nwifuru encouraged ministries and agencies to ensure efficient implementation once the budget is passed, saying transparency and accountability would remain central to the stateโ€™s financial planning in 2026.
