Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has urged members of the Association of Motor Dealers of Nigeria (AMDON) in the state to protect their businesses by strictly adhering to laws and regulations guiding their operations.

Adeleke gave the charge on Monday while receiving executives of the association who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Osogbo.

The governor, represented by his Special Adviser on Economy, Dr. B.T. Salami, stressed the need for motor dealers to conduct their business with transparency and due diligence, warning that failure to do so could expose them to investigations by anti-graft agencies.

“You must ensure that all your transactions are clean and traceable. Report any suspicious dealings to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) or the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) immediately. This is how you protect both your business and your reputation,” Adeleke said.

He also encouraged the association to partner with the state government in promoting financial accountability and boosting revenue generation through proper vehicle documentation and remittance of taxes.

According to him, the government is ready to provide a conducive business environment that will enhance the growth of the automobile sector in Osun State.

“Our administration is committed to supporting genuine business operators. We will continue to create enabling policies that make your work easier and more rewarding,” he added.

Earlier, the state chairman of AMDON, Alhaji Rasheed Adisa, commended Governor Adeleke for his people-oriented governance and ongoing reforms aimed at improving business conditions across the state.

He assured the governor of the association’s readiness to cooperate fully with regulatory agencies and comply with all government directives.

“We appreciate your support, Your Excellency. We will ensure that all our members operate within the law and contribute to the state’s economic development,” Adisa said.

The meeting ended with both parties reaffirming their commitment to fostering accountability and responsible business practices among motor dealers in Osun State.
