ICPC Tracks N271bn Worth of Projects in Two Years

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it tracked 1,440 projects valued at N271 billion in the last two years.
The chairman, Dr. Musa Aliyu, disclosed this during a media engagement in Kano with journalists from the North-East and North-West.
He explained that:
767 projects worth N112.7bn were in the North-East.
673 projects worth N158.3bn were in the North-West.
According to him, many of these interventions were possible because citizens and journalists flagged abandoned projects, ensuring the resources got to the right people.
On recoveries, ICPC recorded:
N7.2bn and $1.06m in the North-West.
N43.3m in the North-East.
Seized assets in the North-West including 14 buildings, 25 plots of land, and three farmlands.
Dr. Aliyu stressed that fighting corruption in these regions (covering 13 states) is crucial for peace, trust, and development.
He also urged the National Assembly to pass the Whistleblower Bill so citizens can safely report corruption. Finally, he appealed to the media to support the ICPC with fact-based investigative journalism while avoiding sensational reports.
