Gowon Decries Rising Crime Among Youths, Calls for National Prayers

Former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (retd.), has expressed concern over the growing rate of crime, particularly among Nigerian youths, urging citizens to continue interceding for the country through prayers.
Gowon, convener of Nigeria Prays, made the appeal on Sunday during a one-day national prayer rally organised by the South-West Zone of the organisation in Osogbo.
According to Rev. Mike Adebomi, Osun State Coordinator of Nigeria Prays, the initiative was established in 1996 by Gowon to unite Christians across denominations in praying against Nigeria’s challenges.
Addressing the gathering virtually, Gowon led prayers against kidnapping, murder, banditry, political unrest, and socioeconomic crises. He pleaded for divine intervention in Nigeria’s affairs, calling for forgiveness and guidance for the nation’s leaders at all levels.
