PDP’s Oyekunle Wins Ibadan North By-Election

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Folajinmi Oyekunle, has emerged winner of the Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election held on Saturday across the 12 wards of the constituency.
The Returning Officer, Professor Abiodun Oluwadare of the University of Ibadan, declared the result at the collation centre in Ikolaba High School, Ibadan.
According to him, Oyekunle secured 18,404 votes, defeating his closest rival, Adewale “Murphy” Olatunji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 8,312 votes.
Other candidates trailed behind:
Femi Akin-Alamu (ADC) – 88 votes
Olabisi Olajumoke (APGA) – 40 votes
Hammed Badmus (ZLP) – 18 votes
Prof. Oluwadare affirmed Oyekunle’s victory, stating that he fulfilled all legal requirements to be declared winner.
This result adds to PDP’s electoral gains in recent by-elections across the country.
