ADC Chieftain Denies Resignation, Labels Circulating Letter a Malicious Fabrication

Nafiu Bala, the former Gombe State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2023 general elections, has strongly denied reports of his resignation from the party, describing a purported resignation letter dated May 18, 2025, as fake and misleading.
In a personally signed statement on Friday, Bala dismissed the letter as a fabrication designed to cause confusion and tarnish his image. He accused “mischievous elements” within and outside the party of orchestrating the falsehood.
“I am writing to address a matter of utmost importance—a fabricated resignation letter attributed to me and dated 18 May 2025,” Bala said. “This document is completely false and holds no validity whatsoever.”
Bala emphasized that he remains the Deputy National Chairman of the ADC, adding that the letter is filled with contradictions that undermine its authenticity.
He further pointed out that the fraudulent nature of the letter was exposed during a party event on July 2, 2025, at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, where his predecessor, Ralph Nwosu, publicly acknowledged that Bala had not resigned from his position.
“In his address to the global media, Nwosu clearly stated: ‘Nafiu Bala did not resign as the Deputy National Chairman,’” he noted.
Bala concluded by highlighting discrepancies between the fake letter and his official style of correspondence, reaffirming his commitment to the ADC and its objectives.
