The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that he will not resign from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) despite serving under President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In an interview with BBC Pidgin published on Saturday, Wike asserted that he is not one to act out of fear, stressing his commitment to the PDP, a party he said he helped build.

“I can’t leave the PDP. I’m not afraid. How can I build a house and be asked to vacate it?” Wike said. “It’s the intruder who should leave, not the builder. I will stay and protect what I built.”

He criticized certain PDP leaders from the South-East for making threats, questioning their political relevance and contributions to the party.

Referring to former governors Achike Udenwa (Imo) and Sam Egwu (Ebonyi), Wike noted that both failed to deliver significant electoral victories for the PDP in their respective states and have no representatives in the National Assembly.

“They didn’t even manage to secure three percent of votes for the PDP, yet they’re the ones issuing threats,” he remarked. “Meanwhile, those of us who delivered governors and National Assembly seats are not making noise.”
