Social Media Activist VeryDarkMan Regains Freedom
Popular Nigerian social media activist, Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
VDM was arrested last Friday in Abuja, sparking widespread reactions across the country. His detention triggered a wave of protests, particularly among Nigerian youths, who took to social media to demand his immediate and unconditional release.
The EFCC stated that the arrest followed multiple petitions filed against the activist. The agency also claimed that several invitations were sent to him prior to his detention, which he allegedly ignored.
His release comes amid growing public scrutiny over the treatment of online voices critical of government actions.
