Wale Edun didn’t propose N105,000 as minimum wage – Presidency
The Presidency on Thursday rubbished claims that the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun proposed N105,000 as new minimum wage for workers.
The Punch had quoted Western Post as saying that the new proposal suggested a minimum wage of N105,000 (approximately $220) per month for Nigerian workers.
But the story presently is missing on the Western Post’s portal.
Edun had earlier in the day submitted a minimum proposal to President Bola Tinubu which has not been made open to the public yet.
The report that the Federal Government is proposing N105,000 as new minimum wage has gone viral.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga in an X post said the story being reported is false.
“The Honorable Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Wale Edun has not proposed N105,000 minimum wage. The contrary story being disseminated is false,” he said.
