President Bola Tinubu has announced a replacement for the nominee from the Southeast region who declined the appointment to the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

This decision by Tinubu comes after the original nominee, Mr. Kalu Eke, expressed his unavailability for the position.

Tinubu’s announcement was conveyed in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a plenary session, urging the Senate to confirm the new nominee swiftly.

The replacement nominee, Dr Ruby Onwudiwe, has been put forward by Tinubu for consideration by the Senate.

In his letter, Tinubu said: “I am pleased to present for confirmation by the Senate, the appointment of Dr. Ruby Onwudiwe as a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
