53 Arrested Over Benue, Plateau Killings – IGP Egbetokun

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has announced the arrest of 53 suspects in connection with the recent violent attacks in Benue and Plateau states, which have claimed dozens of lives and left many injured and displaced.
Speaking during a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, the IGP assured that the suspects would be arraigned in court without delay to face justice for their alleged roles in the deadly assaults.
Describing the June 13 massacre in Yelewata, a community in Benue State, as a “coordinated act of terror,” Egbetokun revealed that 26 suspects were arrested in connection with the Yelewata incident alone. He added that 22 individuals were apprehended for the attack in Plateau, and five others in relation to a separate incident in Makurdi, Benue State.
