4 Years After Bandits’ Attack, Kagara College Remains Shut

Four years after bandits attacked and abducted students and teachers of Government Science College, Kagara in Niger State, the school is yet to be reopened.

However, the old students of the college have pleaded with the authorities to reopen the school.

News Telly recalls that in February 2021 some armed men invaded the school and abducted three teachers, staff and over 100 students for close to six months before they were released.

 

Consequently, the state government closed the school and sent the students to more secured schools across the state but the National Executive members of Kagara Old Students Association (KAGOSA), is seeking for the reopening of the school

The body decried the total collapse of teaching and learning activities in the school contributing more to several decays in the school.

 

The national president of KAGOSA and permanent secretary, economic affairs SSGs office Niger State, Dr Idris Abdullahi Legbo led other executive members of the association on a visit to Kagara for an interface with the district head, Mohammed Saliu Tanko, the education committee of the area as well as other stakeholders in Kagara.

Legbo, who spoke at the palace of the district head expressed concern on the long closure of the school despite efforts by the alumni association.

 

He said KAGOSA had sought for support and invention for the renovation of the school from some stakeholders and development partners but the closure of the school is delaying the process.

 

On his part, the district head who appreciated the association for the visit, maintained that the school is the only science college in the emirate, which has produced notable personalities in different aspects of life
