Former Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, says his rise to national prominence and the foundation of his political career were largely shaped by his role in challenging the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Mohammed, who spoke while reflecting on his years as the spokesperson of the opposition, said the period was defining for him as it demanded courage, consistency and strategic communication.
He explained that leading the public engagement efforts of the then-opposition party placed him at the centre of national debates, giving him visibility and establishing him as a key voice in Nigerian politics.
According to him, the pressures, criticisms and responsibilities that came with opposing the Jonathan government strengthened his resolve, sharpened his skills and prepared him for his later role as minister.
He added that his experiences during that era formed the content of his latest book, where he chronicled major political moments and his contributions to national discourse.
