2027 Crossfire: APC strikes back after Mark, Lamido slam Tinubu govt

A new opposition coalition seeking to remove President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections is gaining traction. This coalition, which includes former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President David Mark, and former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido, plans to use the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform.
At a meeting held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, coalition members criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, calling it a disaster and urging Nigerians to support the coalition to vote APC out in 2027.
In response, APC spokesman Bala Ibrahim dismissed the coalition as “dead on arrival,” expressing confidence that President Tinubu would win re-election.
Other notable PDP figures at the meeting included former Governors Aminu Tambuwal, Liyel Imoke, Babangida Aliyu, Sam Egwu, as well as Uche Secondus, Ben Obi, Josephine Anenih, Austin Akobundu, Kola Ologbondiyan, and Abdullahi Maibasira.
Despite severe criticism over economic and security issues, the Tinubu government maintains its stance against the opposition. Meanwhile, main opposition parties like the PDP, LP, NNPP, and SDP continue to grapple with internal divisions.
Earlier this year, key figures such as Atiku, LP’s Peter Obi, and ex-Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai unveiled a new coalition, which analysts see as a significant attempt to unify the opposition ahead of 2027.
