Tunji-Ojo made this known on Monday night through a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, @OlubunmiTunjiOjo, where he revealed that the Citizenship Advisory Committee is responsible for reviewing and recommending qualified applicants for President Bola Tinubu’s approval.
According to the minister, the process is being handled with utmost transparency and responsibility.
“We understand that the exercise is a test of our integrity as leaders, and we will ensure to uphold the trust placed on us by the nation,” he stated.

“Citizenship of the biggest black nation on earth is a valuable asset that requires careful consideration. We hereby assure Nigerians that we will prioritise integrity and proven character above all else,” Tunji-Ojo added.
The minister further disclosed that the committee includes senior officials from key agencies such as the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
He reaffirmed that President Tinubu’s administration remains committed to strengthening Nigeria’s global image and creating a nation of opportunity.
