Senator Sunday Marshall Katung has met with Nigeriaโ€™s Minister of Defence to discuss the worsening security situation in Southern Kaduna, calling for urgent federal intervention to end the persistent attacks in the region.

During the meeting in Abuja, the senator raised serious concerns over the continued killings, kidnappings and destruction of property affecting several communities in Southern Kaduna. He stressed that residents have continued to live in fear due to recurring violent incidents.

Katung urged the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify military operations, improve intelligence gathering and deploy additional security personnel to troubled areas in order to restore peace and stability.

According to the senator, addressing insecurity in the region requires a coordinated and sustained approach that will protect lives, secure communities and rebuild confidence among residents.

In response, the Defence Minister assured that the Federal Government remains committed to tackling insecurity across the country, noting that security agencies are already taking steps to strengthen operations in affected areas.

The meeting comes amid renewed concerns over insecurity in parts of Kaduna State, with community leaders and stakeholders repeatedly calling for stronger government action.

Residents of Southern Kaduna have long appealed for lasting solutions to the violence, hoping that renewed engagement between lawmakers and security authorities will help bring an end to the crisis
