𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗻: 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘄𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝘃 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘅𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁-𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved a temporary relaxation of the night-time restriction placed on tricycles across the state in observance of the 2026 Ramadan period.

The state government announced that the adjustment is aimed at easing movement for Muslim faithful during late-night prayers and early-morning activities associated with the holy month. Under the new directive, tricycle operators will now be allowed to operate between 11:00 pm and 5:00 am, replacing the earlier stricter night curfew.

According to a statement from the state government, the decision followed consultations with security agencies, transport unions, and community leaders, who appealed for flexibility to support residents observing Ramadan. Authorities noted that the relaxation is temporary and will be closely monitored to prevent any breach of public safety.

Governor Fintiri emphasized that while the measure is intended to promote religious observance and economic activity, security remains a top priority. He warned tricycle operators and commuters to comply strictly with all regulations, including proper identification, designated routes, and cooperation with law enforcement officers.

Security agencies in the state have been directed to maintain surveillance and ensure that the adjusted hours are not exploited for criminal activities. Residents were also encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements during the late-night hours.

Transport unions welcomed the decision, saying it would help operators recover income lost due to earlier restrictions while providing residents with safe and affordable mobility during Ramadan nights.

The government reiterated that the revised curfew would remain in effect only for the Ramadan period, after which authorities would review the security situation before deciding on further adjustments.
