Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has criticized Nigeriaโ€™s political leaders for allegedly focusing more on election politics while the country continues to face worsening insecurity.

Obi expressed concern over recent attacks in several parts of the country, including Borno State, Abuja, and other affected areas, warning that the growing insecurity poses a serious threat to the lives and livelihoods of Nigerians.

According to him, the safety and well-being of citizens should be the primary responsibility of any government, rather than early political campaigns and election calculations.

He stated that while political discussions about future elections dominate national discourse, many communities are struggling with violence, banditry, and terrorism.

Obi urged leaders at all levels of government to prioritize security reforms, intelligence gathering, and stronger coordination among security agencies to address the crisis.

He further stressed that Nigeria cannot achieve meaningful development or economic stability without first tackling the persistent insecurity affecting several regions of the country.

The former Anambra State governor called on authorities to focus on protecting lives, restoring peace in affected communities, and ensuring that citizens feel safe across the nation.
