Leaders of the National Assembly (NASS) on Monday held a closed-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock, Abuja, shortly after concluding plenary sessions.

The meeting was attended by top legislative leaders, including the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, alongside other senior lawmakers.

Although details of the discussions were not immediately made public, sources at the Presidency indicated that the meeting focused on key national issues, including legislative priorities, governance matters and ongoing collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government.

The meeting also reportedly reviewed progress on several bills currently before the National Assembly and discussed strategies for strengthening cooperation between both arms of government to ensure smooth policy implementation.

Presidential aides and senior government officials were also present at the meeting, which lasted for several hours.

Observers say such consultations between the executive and legislative leadership are part of efforts to maintain coordination on national development policies and address pressing political and economic challenges facing the country.

Further details of the deliberations are expected to emerge after official briefings from the Presidency or National Assembly leadership.
