𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗼 𝗴𝗼𝘃 𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀 𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗖, 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗯𝘆𝗲-𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for ensuring a peaceful and orderly conduct of the recent bye-election held in parts of the state.
In a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Yusuf described the exercise as a positive example of democratic maturity, noting that the collaboration between electoral officials and security operatives helped prevent violence and electoral malpractice.
According to him, the professionalism displayed by INEC officials contributed significantly to voters’ confidence and smooth accreditation across polling units. He also praised residents of Kano for maintaining calm throughout the electoral process, urging political actors to continue embracing peace before, during and after elections.
The governor emphasized that credible elections remain essential to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy, adding that the peaceful atmosphere witnessed during the bye-election should serve as a model for future polls across the country.
Yusuf further assured that his administration would continue to support initiatives that promote transparency, civic participation, and security during elections, while calling on political parties and stakeholders to prioritize issue-based campaigns over inflammatory rhetoric.
The bye-election, conducted amid heightened political interest, recorded minimal incidents, with observers describing the process as largely orderly compared to previous exercises in the state.
