The Federal Government has signed an agreement for Nigeria to host the 5th edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) in Lagos in 2027, in a move aimed at strengthening trade, investment and economic cooperation across the African continent.

Officials said the hosting rights reflect growing confidence in Nigeriaโ€™s role as a major commercial hub in Africa and its commitment to promoting regional integration through trade and industrial development.

The trade fair is expected to attract thousands of exhibitors, investors, policymakers and business leaders from across Africa and beyond, providing a platform for showcasing products, signing business deals and exploring new market opportunities.

According to government representatives, preparations will focus on improving infrastructure, logistics and security arrangements to ensure the successful hosting of the continental event.

They noted that the fair will also create opportunities for Nigerian businesses, especially small and medium-scale enterprises, to connect with international partners and expand their reach within the African market.

Economic analysts believe hosting the event could boost tourism, stimulate local industries and enhance Nigeriaโ€™s profile as a destination for trade and investment.

The Intra-African Trade Fair is organised to promote commerce under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which aims to increase intra-African trade and accelerate economic growth across member states.
