The Ekiti State Government has approved the sum of โ‚ฆ2.51 billion for key development projects covering road infrastructure, compensation payments, and agricultural programmes aimed at boosting food production across the state.

The approval was part of resolutions reached at the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Biodun Oyebanji in Ado-Ekiti. According to officials, the funding reflects the administrationโ€™s commitment to improving infrastructure, supporting farmers, and ensuring inclusive economic growth.

A significant portion of the funds will be directed toward road construction and rehabilitation projects in strategic communities to enhance transportation, ease movement of goods, and stimulate local economic activities. Government sources said the projects are expected to improve connectivity between rural farming settlements and urban markets.

The council also approved compensation payments for residents affected by ongoing public infrastructure developments. Authorities noted that the move was necessary to ensure fairness and to prevent delays in the execution of critical projects across the state.

In the agricultural sector, part of the allocation will support initiatives targeted at increasing food production, providing inputs to farmers, and strengthening extension services. The government explained that the intervention aligns with its broader strategy to promote food security and create employment opportunities within the agribusiness value chain.

Officials further stated that the projects would be closely monitored to ensure transparency and value for money, adding that contractors would be held accountable to delivery timelines and quality standards.

The Ekiti State Government reiterated its commitment to sustainable development, stressing that investments in infrastructure and agriculture remain central to its economic agenda.
